From the point of view of village cultural life, the most significant location is the Village Hall, designed by László Páhy and built in 1994. Here can be found the local library and theatre, and the local authority also has offices here. The activities of many specialist organisations, clubs and associations take place in this fine building: for example, there is folk dancing and there are yoga sessions, events for majorettes, mothers and babies, and pensioners, plus lots of others. And what must certainly not be missing from local life? The balls! Carnival, Women’s Day, New Year’s Eve and grape harvest balls, which ensure both merriment and relaxation. Do you want to escape a bit from the monotony of everyday life? Do you sometimes want to dance and have fun? Here every now and then music is called for until four in the morning and the locals have fun. The community centre provides for this, too. And what else? Culture! Exhibitions are often staged in its wonderfully designed gallery. Works created locally and elsewhere are displayed. Whether it’s paintings, felt products, tapestries, photographs, embroidery, corn dollies, carved wooden items or masterpieces created with other techniques, they can all constitute splendid exhibitions here. If all this doesn’t raise your interest, there are also theatre performances, which similarly embrace a variety of genres. Whether it’s a drama, comedy, musical or something lyrical, only imagination sets the limit. The Community Centre and its surroundings are the focal point for the already mentioned Coach Pushing Festival. The serious and the frivolous, the official and the informal gather here. A unity is created, thus serving the inhabitants of Kocs. If you make the effort to enter, you will marvel at the wonderful interior. Or, relaxing in the library, you can let the books guide you to their own different worlds.
A WALK IN THE COURTYARD OF TATA CASTLE
On hearing the name of the small, atmospheric town Tata, what usually comes to mind first of all is an image of the castle standing on the shore of Lake Öreg.
